BIOGRAPHY

Namita Sharma's Photo_edited_edited.jpg

You are not an artist. The artist is in you.

This is true for me as I believe that art is an expression of oneself. Our dreams, hopes, and aspirations, our inspiration, influences, and experiences, and our insights, learnings, and instinct. Therefore, my paintings are a manifestation of external stimuli and inner awareness.

I have ardently admired and been inspired by the works of 19th-century impressionist artists. Though energized by these sages, my own style is abstract realism (a term that I coined!). I trust my intuition, working with a pallet knife, spatula, and my hand which I believe adds that element of "artist in the artwork'. My paintings are bold and dramatic. The use of contrasting colors has been my signature style with thick bold strokes that immerses one in the painting.

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”, a quote by Pablo Picasso, moved me to make art more accessible to people – to integrate it into our personal and public space. In other words, to democratize art.

Art by the people, of the people, and for the people.
